The New Anti-Science Assault on US Schools
In a disturbing trend, anti-evolution campaigners are combining with climate change deniers to undermine public education.
You might have thought it was all over after the 2005 decision by the US district court of Middle Pennsylvania (pdf), which ruled in the case of the Dover Area schools that teaching intelligent design is unconstitutional. You might have guessed that they wouldn’t come back after the 1987 US supreme court decision in Edwards v Aguillard, which deemed the teaching of creationism in Louisiana schools unconstitutional. Or maybe you figured that the opponents of evolution had their Waterloo in the 1925 Scopes “monkey” trial in Tennessee. They are back. There are six bills aimed at undermining the teaching of evolution before state legislatures this year: two each in New Hampshire and Missouri, one each in Indiana and Oklahoma. And it’s only February.
Rush Limbaugh repeated his remarks about Sandra Fluke yesterday, “Well, what would you call someone who wants us to pay for her to have sex? What would you call that woman? You’d call ‘em a slut, a prostitute or whatever, and turned them into a demand that women who use birth control make porn for him, “So, Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal: If we are going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. And I’ll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.”
This led Keith Olbermann to point out that, “But to get back to calling her a slut, a prostitute because she wants part of her birth control covered by insurance, by that that definition Mr. Limbaugh, if your wife Katharine has ever used birth control and did not pay for it one hundred percent out of her own pocket, or if your previous wife Marta had ever used birth control and did not pay for it one hundred percent out of her own pocket, or if your second wife Michelle had ever used birth control and did not pay for it one hundred percent out of her own pocket, or if your first wife Roxie had ever used birth control and did not pay for it one hundred percent out of her own pocket, or your mother Millie had ever used birth control and did not pay for it one hundred percent out of her own pocket, by your own definition, Mr. Limbaugh, what does that make them?” (via Enraged Over His Inability To Get Laid, Rush Limbaugh Calls His Mom A Slut)
Everyone unfortunate enough to ever hear the ridiculous rhetoric of libertarians knows libertarians are all about two things- one, the state is the source of all evil and can’t do anything right. Two, that libertarians aren’t racist, that it is impossible for libertarians to be racist. In their world, racism applies to value judgements about a whole group of people, a collectivist idea. Since libertarians are opposed to collectivism, they cannot by definition be racist. By staying as true to this axiom as possible, trapped inside a rigid ideological system which admits of no contradictions, libertarians like Ron Paul go so far as to believe that state-enforced discrimination is the only kind that exists. Since libertarians oppose the state, they must be definition also oppose racism. Sounds nice, doesn’t it? But check this shit out.
In 2004, Ron Paul commented that “the forced integration dictated by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 increased racial tensions while diminishing individual liberty.” Pause for a second. Forcing white people to accept black people as their equals in the work place and in education “increased racial tensions” and “DIMINISHED INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY”?! Ofcourse it increased racial tensions you dumb ass, you were telling racist white fucks that you were no longer going to tolerate their ass-holery. And then you have the gall to whine that doing so violated the individual liberties of the poor, white victims? What in the unholy name of ass is this fuckness?! Well, let’s read on.
“The federal government has no legitimate authority to infringe on the right of private property owners to use their property as they please and to form (or not form) contracts with terms mutually agreeable to all parties.” So… what? White people won’t hire you? Go somewhere else. Can’t get loans ‘cus you’re black? Not my problem, I have every right to be an asshole. All the good schools that white people went to had every right to deny blacks equality. After all, it was their school, the state can’t tell them what to do. The government can’t tell them what to do. If you come into my store and want to buy something I have every right to say “You’re not welcome here, we don’t like your kind,” and you have no legitimate choice but to get the fuck out or I’ll shoot you. It’s my property, and if you fuck with my property, you’re fucking with my life because to libertarians, they are literally one and the same.
This shit sandwhich stinks the more you think about it, and it only smells so damn good within the airtight confines of libertarian idealogy. Like some snot bubble forming on the tip of an ass sniffing dog’s nose, as soon as libertarian ideas are exposed to the cold, hard facts of grounded reality, they pop. The entire premise exists based on the denial of social power (after all, it’s got the word “social” in it. As in, socialism. Get it?) And that’s collectivist, and collectivism is wrong because only individuals have rights and only individuals can excercise power, so any infringement on individual rights even to protect someone elses individual rights is wrong, especially when it’s the government because only individuals can excercise power and…. aaaarrrrgggghh! It drives you FUCKING CRAZY arguing with these assholes.
I know the government has done some seriousley fucked up shit, and yeah, most of the time, it probably does more harm than good. But to believe that the government NEVER HAS and NEVER WILL do ANY GOOD is just stupid. It’s dumb, and it’s stupid. Seriousley, just THINK about what that means. I don’t even need to come up with ridiculous scenarios to convince you that it’s bullshit. Like, if all humans started farting spontaneousley, and the build up of methane gas threatened to choke out all life on earth, libertarians would wait for some private enterprise to come up with a solution rather than the government fucking do anything. “Here. Just eat fucking farts until some benevolent and all-wise private group can come up with something. Don’t trust government to save you. Their head’s so far up their own ass they’ve inoculated themselves to this shit!” But really, I think it’s lolbertarians who have their head so far up their own assholes they can’t even think straight, their ideas come out in these weird, rotten smelling S-shaped shit snakes.
Archie Comics responds to the American Family Association:
“We stand by Life with Archie #16. As I’ve said before, Riverdale is a safe, welcoming place that does not judge anyone. It’s an idealized version of America that will hopefully become reality someday.
We’re sorry the American Family Association/OneMillionMoms.com feels so negatively about our product, but they have every right to their opinion, just like we have the right to stand by ours. Kevin Keller will forever be a part of Riverdale, and he will live a happy, long life free of prejudice, hate and narrow-minded people.”
